President Bola Tinubu has appointed the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, to head the Directorate of Air Mobilisation for the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign ahead of the 2027 general election.

The appointment places Keyamo in charge of coordinating air travel and aviation logistics for the ruling party’s nationwide re-election campaign.

The development was announced in a statement issued on Sunday, October 25, by Tunde Moshood, the minister’s Special Adviser on Media and Communications.

Under the new arrangement, Olubunmi Kuku, Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), will serve as Deputy Director I, while Farouk Ahmed Umar, Managing Director of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), has been named Deputy Director II.

Keyamo to oversee campaign air logistics

According to the statement, the directorate will coordinate flight arrangements for designated campaign officials and personnel, helping the party manage travel across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones.

The structure is expected to work alongside other units of the APC Presidential Campaign Council to ensure efficient scheduling, effective coordination and appropriate deployment of logistical resources during campaign activities.

Moshood said Keyamo’s experience in the aviation sector was expected to contribute to the planning and management of air transportation for the nationwide campaign.

The inclusion of the heads of FAAN and NAMA in the directorate is also intended to bring aviation-sector leadership and technical expertise into the campaign’s operational arrangements.

Campaign activities and official duties

The statement emphasised that the directorate’s operations must comply with aviation safety regulations and applicable electoral laws.

It also stressed the need for a clear separation between party campaign activities and official government functions, noting that campaign-related arrangements must be conducted through properly authorised channels.

The appointments come as the APC intensifies preparations for Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027, with the party organising its campaign structure to coordinate activities across the country.
