As Nigeria inches closer to the 2027 general elections, the battle for political survival is intensifying within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), with President Bola Tinubu’s reforms and policy decisions expected to take centre stage.

The big question is whether the APC can convince Nigerians that its policies are delivering the results they need — or whether growing public frustration could threaten the party’s chances of retaining power.

The Tinubu administration has defended major economic decisions, including the removal of petrol subsidies and foreign exchange reforms, arguing that they are necessary to address longstanding economic challenges.

The APC has also identified tax reforms, local government autonomy and student loan initiatives among the policies it intends to highlight in its campaign for another mandate.

However, the administration faces a difficult test. Many Nigerians continue to grapple with high living costs, expensive transportation, food prices and security concerns. These issues are likely to shape voters’ decisions as the election approaches.

President Tinubu has already launched his re-election campaign, while the APC is mobilising its political structures to defend the administration’s record. The opposition, meanwhile, will be looking to turn public dissatisfaction into electoral support.

The question is no longer just what the APC says it has achieved, but whether Nigerians believe those achievements have improved their lives.

Can Tinubu’s reforms win him another four years, or will the opposition capitalise on the challenges facing the country?

Let’s hear your opinion: If the election were held today, would you vote for APC again or support another party? Give us your reasons in the comments.
