Former Kogi West Senator, Dino Melaye, has warned the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) will resist any attempt to intimidate opposition members ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Melaye issued the warning during an interview on Arise Television’s Prime Time on Monday, following an ADC stakeholders’ meeting.
The ADC chieftain declared that his party was prepared to defend itself against any form of political intimidation and would not allow the ruling party to undermine its activities ahead of the next elections.
He alleged that the APC had been using security agencies and government institutions to harass and intimidate opposition figures, warning that such actions would no longer be tolerated.
According to Melaye, the ADC is prepared for the 2027 electoral contest and will resist any attempt to manipulate the process or rig the outcome of the elections.
“All Die Na Die, we will defend ourselves in 2027. The ADC will not allow the APC to continue intimidation. We are ready to defend every vote,” he declared.
The former lawmaker also called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to maintain political neutrality and ensure that the 2027 elections are free, fair and credible.
Melaye expressed confidence that Nigerians were increasingly dissatisfied with the country’s current situation, citing hunger, insecurity and what he described as poor governance under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
He argued that these concerns could influence voters’ decisions at the polls, insisting that Nigerians were ready to vote the APC out of power in 2027.
His remarks come amid growing political activities and heightened tensions between opposition parties and the ruling APC as preparations for the next general elections gradually gather momentum.
With the 2027 elections approaching, Melaye’s warning signals the ADC’s determination to challenge the ruling party and protect its electoral interests.
