Barcelona captain Raphinha has signed a two-year contract extension that will keep him at the Spanish giants until June 2030, strengthening the club’s plans to retain one of its most influential attacking players.
The 29-year-old Brazilian forward’s previous contract was due to expire in 2028, but the new agreement ensures he will remain at the Catalan club for another two years beyond that date.
Barcelona announced the renewal on Thursday, November 5, describing the agreement as a declaration of the club’s commitment to its captain and long-term sporting project.
Raphinha joined Barcelona from Leeds United in 2022 and has steadily developed into a key figure in the team, combining goalscoring ability with leadership and defensive work rate.
Raphinha Enjoys Remarkable Goalscoring Form
The contract extension comes as the Brazilian enjoys an outstanding start to the 2026/27 campaign.
He has scored 19 goals and provided three assists in 13 appearances across all competitions, establishing himself as one of Barcelona’s most productive players.
His impressive performances have further strengthened his position under manager Hansi Flick, who has relied on the forward’s versatility and attacking contribution.
Raphinha has also adapted to playing in a more central attacking role to help address changes in Barcelona’s forward line following the departures of Robert Lewandowski and Ferran Torres.
Brazilian Forward Takes Over as Barcelona Captain
Raphinha assumed the club captaincy at the beginning of the season following the departures of Ronald Araujo and Marc-André ter Stegen.
His leadership has become an important part of Barcelona’s plans as the club seeks to maintain its competitiveness in domestic and European competitions.
Since arriving in 2022, the Brazilian has made 190 appearances for Barcelona and scored 94 goals, placing him among the club’s most prolific Brazilian players.
He has also helped the team secure major honours, including La Liga titles and domestic cup successes.
Barcelona Secure Key Player for the Future
The renewal represents a significant commitment from Barcelona to a player who has become central to the team’s attacking plans.
Raphinha had previously expressed his desire to extend his stay and indicated that he could even consider ending his playing career at the club.
By securing his services until 2030, Barcelona have provided continuity in their squad while retaining a player whose current form and leadership have made him an important figure at the club.
The Brazilian will now look to maintain his scoring run and help Barcelona pursue further silverware during the remainder of the season.
