Chelsea produced a remarkable second-half comeback to defeat Leeds United 6–3 in a thrilling League Cup encounter at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday.

The Blues endured a difficult opening period as Leeds took control of the match and went into the break with a two-goal advantage.

Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso responded by introducing several key players at the start of the second half, including Cole Palmer, Pedro Neto, Reece James and Morgan Rogers.

The changes immediately transformed the game. Palmer pulled one back from the penalty spot before quickly finding the net again to bring Chelsea level.

Chelsea then completed the turnaround as Pedro Neto put the hosts ahead, before Danny Welbeck added another goal to increase their advantage.

Leeds managed to respond through Dominic Calvert-Lewin, but Chelsea remained in control. Valentin Barco restored the two-goal cushion before Welbeck scored again in stoppage time to complete a nine-goal thriller.

The victory sees Chelsea advance to the last 16 of the League Cup, although their defensive performance will remain a concern after conceding three goals.
