Katsina State Governor, Dikko Radda, has announced plans to introduce a car loan scheme for magistrates as part of efforts to improve their welfare and strengthen the administration of justice in the state.
Radda disclosed this on Thursday in Katsina during the launch of the maiden edition of the Hospitality Bar Journal, published by the Nigerian Bar Association, Katsina Branch, in collaboration with the state Ministry of Justice.
The governor said the proposed 2027 budget would include measures to address congestion in the courts, improve the working conditions of judicial officers and strengthen manpower within the judiciary.
He explained that the state government had increased the number of judges over the past two years and would consider appointing more judicial officers to respond to the growing workload across the courts.
According to the governor, the planned car loan scheme is intended to help magistrates deal with transportation challenges while improving their general welfare.
Radda also pledged government assistance with accommodation for judicial officers and promised support for their participation in international seminars and other professional development programmes.
The governor commended the judiciary for maintaining a cordial relationship with the executive arm of government, describing cooperation between the two arms as important to effective justice delivery.
He also praised the NBA Katsina Branch and the Ministry of Justice for producing the new journal, describing it as a platform for legal scholarship, research and professional exchange.
As part of his support for the publication, Radda announced the purchase of 50 copies of the journal for N10 million.
Earlier, the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Fadila Dikko, said the publication would promote legal research, document jurisprudence and strengthen collaboration between the legal profession and the Ministry of Justice.
The Chairman of the NBA Katsina Branch, Shafiu Umar, also said the journal would contribute to legal research and the development of jurisprudence in the state.
The latest measures form part of the Katsina State Government’s broader efforts to improve the working environment and welfare of judicial officers while strengthening the state’s justice system.
