Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has congratulated former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Bisi Kolawole, on his 70th birthday.
In a message issued through his Special Adviser on Media, Yinka Oyebode, the governor described Kolawole as a distinguished Ekiti indigene who has made significant contributions to the development of the state.
Oyebanji praised the former lawmaker for his commitment to good governance, democratic values and the progress of Ekiti State.
He highlighted Kolawole’s public service record, including his time as a member of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, where he represented Efon Constituency between 2007 and 2011, and his tenure as Commissioner for Environment from 2015 to 2018.
The governor also recalled Kolawole’s participation in the 2022 Ekiti governorship election as the PDP candidate, describing his campaign as issue-based and commendable.
Oyebanji particularly acknowledged Kolawole’s decision to congratulate him after the 2022 election rather than challenge the result at the election tribunal, describing the gesture as a demonstration of maturity and politics without bitterness.
He said Kolawole’s subsequent emergence as Deputy National Secretary of the PDP further reflected his experience and standing within the political space.
The governor urged other politicians to emulate what he described as Kolawole’s spirit of statesmanship and commitment to the interests of Ekiti.
Oyebanji wished the celebrant good health, long life and continued opportunities to contribute to the development of Ekiti State, Nigeria and humanity.
“On behalf of the Government and good people of Ekiti State, I celebrate our dear Hon. Kolawole and wish him good health and strength as he continues to serve our state and country with greater distinction,” the governor said.
