Nigerian adult-content creator Tall Lizzy has opened up about the difficult circumstances that led her into the adult entertainment industry, revealing that she once contemplated suicide during a period of severe financial hardship.
The content creator made the disclosure while reflecting on her journey and the decision she now regrets. She said poverty, low self-esteem and a desire to support her mother influenced the choices she made at the time.
Tall Lizzy said her financial struggles became so severe that she dropped out of secondary school after her family could not raise about ₦2,300 required for her school fees.
She also recalled taking desperate measures to survive and help her mother, saying the situation eventually left her feeling overwhelmed and tired of life.
According to her, she later encountered someone online who introduced her to the adult-content industry.
‘I thought it would be temporary’
Tall Lizzy explained that she did not initially intend to make adult content a long-term career.
She said her plan was to work for a short period, make enough money, save it and eventually delete the content before moving on to another career.
However, she said the reality turned out differently from what she expected.
The content creator said she would not have entered the industry if she had known beforehand how little money she could make from it.
She has previously said that videos attracting millions of views can generate surprisingly small returns on some platforms, challenging the perception that adult-content creators automatically make large sums of money.
‘The stigma is very strong’
Tall Lizzy also spoke about the stigma attached to people who have worked in the adult entertainment industry.
She said outsiders may assume that performers are simply enjoying themselves and making substantial money, whereas the reality can involve financial difficulties, emotional struggles and lasting consequences.
She acknowledged that much of the content she has created is likely to remain online permanently, adding to the difficulty of moving on from her past.
Despite her regrets, Tall Lizzy said she hopes her experience can encourage young people facing financial difficulties to consider other options before making decisions that could have long-term consequences.
She has also expressed an interest in pursuing a more conventional career, including acting, and has spoken about eventually leaving the adult-content industry once she has a more stable source of income.
Her latest disclosure has sparked discussions online about poverty, desperation, mental health, the permanence of online content and the challenges faced by people trying to leave the adult entertainment industry.
