MTN Nigeria has announced the restoration of network services in parts of Kano and Katsina states following an outage that disrupted connectivity for some subscribers.

The telecommunications company confirmed that the problem had been resolved in a message to customers, while apologising for the inconvenience caused by the disruption.

The operator also advised subscribers who were still experiencing difficulties connecting to the network to restart their mobile devices.

“Service Restored! We sincerely apologise for the challenges experienced today with our services in parts of Kano and Katsina States,” the company said.

MTN added that services had been fully restored and thanked affected customers for their understanding.

However, the company did not disclose the cause of the outage or the number of subscribers affected.

The latest disruption highlights the dependence of individuals and businesses on telecommunications services for calls, internet access, mobile banking and other daily activities.

Meanwhile, MTN continues to strengthen its position in Nigeria’s telecommunications market. Figures from the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) showed that the company added 2.22 million subscribers in July 2026, taking its customer base to 100.86 million.

Airtel Nigeria followed with 66.76 million subscribers, while Globacom recorded 23.63 million and 9mobile had 3.61 million.
The restoration announcement will come as a relief to affected customers, although subscribers who continue to experience network problems have been advised to restart their devices and reconnect.
