Nigerian billionaire businessman and President of the Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, is reportedly considering Egypt as the next major destination for his company’s industrial expansion across Africa.
The move is expected to strengthen the conglomerate’s presence in North Africa and further advance its ambition of building a strong industrial footprint across the continent.
Dangote has continued to pursue investments in key sectors, including cement, fertiliser, petroleum refining and other manufacturing industries, as part of efforts to promote African industrialisation and reduce dependence on imported products.
Egypt’s strategic location, large consumer market and established industrial infrastructure are believed to make the country an attractive destination for the group’s expansion plans.
The proposed investment would also align with Dangote’s broader vision of developing industries capable of meeting Africa’s growing demand for essential products while creating employment opportunities and boosting economic activities.
Over the years, the Dangote Group has expanded its operations beyond Nigeria, establishing a presence in several African countries, particularly in the cement manufacturing sector.
The company’s latest expansion ambition highlights the growing interest of major African investors in exploring opportunities across the continent rather than concentrating their businesses in individual national markets.
If successful, the proposed Egyptian expansion could further strengthen Dangote’s position as one of Africa’s leading industrialists and deepen economic ties between Nigeria and Egypt.
