A Nigerian beauty entrepreneur, Olusanya Samuel, popularly known as Sam Pedicures, is set to attempt a Guinness World Record for the longest pedicure marathon by an individual in a bid to showcase the potential of the country’s beauty and wellness industry.
Samuel is scheduled to undertake the 48-hour challenge from October 29 to 31, 2026, at Njay Beauty Spa & Salon in Akure, Ondo State.
The initiative is also designed to promote foot care and hygiene while encouraging young Nigerians to embrace entrepreneurship and develop practical skills.
From university student to beauty entrepreneur
Samuel, an Anatomy graduate of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti, said his academic background had strengthened his understanding of human physiology and foot care.
He explained that his entrepreneurial journey began during his second year at university, when he started learning manicure and pedicure techniques.
Over the past five years, the venture has grown from a side business into Sam Pedicures, a brand focused on professional foot care and hygiene.
Samuel said his experience had taught him that young Nigerians could create employment opportunities by developing their skills rather than waiting solely for traditional jobs.
“Building a business alongside my studies showed me that young Nigerians do not have to wait for employment; we can create it through skill mastery,” he said.
Record attempt to spotlight Nigeria’s beauty industry
The planned marathon is expected to attract attention to Nigeria’s personal care sector and demonstrate the opportunities available to young people in the beauty and wellness industry.
Organisers said the event would include live entertainment, a red-carpet experience, food and drinks, alongside free pedicure sessions for attendees.
Samuel hopes the attempt will also inspire young Nigerians to combine formal education with practical skills and entrepreneurial ventures.
His challenge comes amid growing interest in Guinness World Records attempts among Nigerians seeking international recognition for their talents and achievements.
If successful and officially verified, the attempt could bring further attention to the country’s growing beauty and personal care industry.
