The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has inaugurated its newly acquired national secretariat in Abuja as the party steps up preparations for the 2027 general elections.
The facility, located in Jabi, Federal Capital Territory, was unveiled on Monday, October 26, shortly after an emergency meeting of the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC). It is expected to serve as the party’s administrative headquarters and a central base for coordinating its presidential campaign.
The development marks a significant step in the NDC’s efforts to strengthen its organisational structure, improve communication among state chapters and coordinate its political activities nationwide ahead of the forthcoming elections.
Speaking at the inauguration, the party’s National Leader, Senator Seriake Dickson, congratulated members and supporters on the acquisition, describing the new secretariat as the party’s “Noah’s Ark”.
Dickson said the facility would provide a unifying centre for party members and offer a permanent base for advancing the organisation’s political ambitions.
The inauguration attracted several prominent party figures, including National Chairman Senator Moses Cleopas, National Leader Senator Seriake Dickson and Senator Victor Umeh, who represents Anambra Central in the National Assembly.
Also present was Dumo Lulu-Briggs, the party’s Rivers State governorship candidate, alongside other leaders and members.
The new headquarters is expected to support the coordination of the party’s national operations, strengthen engagement with supporters and provide a central location for planning campaign activities across the country.
As political parties intensify preparations for the 2027 elections, the NDC is seeking to consolidate its national presence and establish itself as an alternative platform for Nigerians seeking a different political direction.
The inauguration signals the party’s determination to build its organisational capacity ahead of what is expected to be a closely contested electoral season.
