Nollywood actress Mercy Aigbe has criticised bloggers for allegedly fuelling the ongoing disagreement between the family of late gospel singer Olayemi Bayonile Bolaji, popularly known as Toluwanisings, and his widow over his burial arrangements.

The actress expressed concern that some content creators were conducting interviews with members of the singer’s family, potentially worsening tensions at a time when the bereaved wife and their two young children should be allowed to mourn in peace.

In a message shared on her Instagram page, Aigbe questioned the lack of compassion surrounding the controversy, asking whether every personal tragedy must become a subject of public entertainment.

“Have we lost our sense of humanity? What happened to compassion?” she queried.

She noted that the singer’s death had left behind a grieving wife and two young children who needed privacy, emotional support and time to come to terms with their loss.

According to the actress, turning the family’s disagreement into online content could further deepen the pain of those already struggling with the loss.

“Must everything become content? Must every family disagreement become public entertainment?” she asked.

Aigbe urged bloggers to consider the emotional consequences of their actions rather than focus on generating engagement from the family’s private affairs.

She further appealed to the public to allow the bereaved family to handle its differences away from unnecessary scrutiny.

“Whatever disagreements exist, can we allow this family some dignity and privacy to navigate their grief?” she added.

The actress maintained that not every dispute requires public attention, stressing that sensitivity and restraint are particularly important when a family is dealing with the death of a loved one.

“Not every situation needs a microphone. Not every conflict needs an audience. And not every tragedy should become an opportunity for engagement. Sometimes, the most humane thing you can do is put the camera down,” she said.

What Happened Between Toluwanisings’ Widow and His Family?

Toluwanisings reportedly died on October 14, 2026, after slumping in Ibadan, Oyo State. His death has since sparked public debate, with members of his paternal family reportedly calling for an investigation into the circumstances surrounding it.

A separate disagreement has emerged over where the late singer should be buried. Reports indicate that some relatives want him buried at his residence in Ibadan or taken to his ancestral home, while his widow reportedly prefers a cemetery or church burial ground.

The dispute has attracted widespread attention, with interviews and social media commentary adding to the public discussion.

Aigbe’s intervention, however, focused on the need to respect the family’s privacy and protect the widow and children from additional distress as they mourn.

Her remarks have added to growing calls for restraint and compassion in the handling of the sensitive matter.
