Nollywood actor Emeka Ike has reacted angrily after the Federal High Court in Abuja dismissed his ₦10 billion lawsuit against Lere Olayinka, an aide to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The actor had instituted the suit over an alleged breach of his voter privacy. However, the court reportedly dismissed the case, citing insufficient evidence to support his claim.
Reacting to the ruling, Emeka Ike questioned the court’s position on privacy, suggesting that the decision raised concerns about how the right to privacy should be interpreted.
In a pointed remark, the actor said: “Since the court is saying that a breach of privacy is not a violation of human rights, that means I now have the right to obtain the judge’s personal information and make it public. Let’s see if he will challenge me on privacy matters.”
His comments have sparked fresh conversations about privacy rights, the limits of judicial decisions and the protection available to individuals who believe their personal information has been exposed without their consent.
The case has also drawn attention to the importance of sufficient evidence when bringing legal claims involving alleged violations of fundamental rights.
