President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed his commitment to building a prosperous Nigeria, declaring that his determination to advance the country’s development has grown stronger following his recent spiritual journey to Saudi Arabia.

The President made the declaration on Monday after performing the lesser Hajj, known as Umrah, during which he was granted the opportunity to pray inside the Holy Ka’abah in Makkah.

Tinubu expressed gratitude to Saudi Arabia’s King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for granting him and members of his delegation access to the sacred site.

Describing the experience as historic and deeply meaningful, the President said he prayed for wisdom and resilience to continue serving Nigerians.

He explained that his prayers centred on the responsibility of leadership and the need to remain committed to the country’s progress despite the challenges confronting the nation.

Reflecting on Surah Aal-Imran, Verse 26 of the Holy Qur’an, Tinubu said power ultimately belongs to Almighty Allah, who has the authority to grant and withdraw it.

He stressed that political authority should be exercised with humility, responsibility and a commitment to serving the people.

The President described his emergence as Nigeria’s leader as a special blessing, adding that the privilege carried an obligation to work towards national prosperity and development.

“My commitment to Project Nigeria is higher,” Tinubu declared, promising to pursue policies aimed at improving the economy, expanding opportunities and building a better future for Nigerians.

Tinubu expresses optimism about the economy

Speaking on the nation’s economic outlook, the President described the foundation of the economy as solid and expressed confidence that Nigeria was emerging from a difficult period.

“The foundation is solid, and the economy has come out of the dark tunnel. This is inspiring,” he said.

Tinubu also highlighted youth development as a critical priority, arguing that leaders must invest in the next generation if they hope to leave a meaningful legacy.

He said the decisions taken by the present administration would influence how future generations judge its leadership, particularly in terms of opportunities created for young Nigerians.

The President reiterated his determination to strengthen the economy, promote shared prosperity and create conditions that would enable citizens to realise their potential.

He concluded by expressing gratitude for the opportunity to lead the country and pledging to continue working towards Nigeria’s greatness.
