The Police Service Commission (PSC) has dismissed three senior police officers and demoted 16 others following disciplinary proceedings over various cases of misconduct.
The decisions form part of the commission’s efforts to strengthen discipline, accountability and professionalism within the Nigeria Police Force.
The affected officers were sanctioned after the commission considered disciplinary matters brought before it, with the penalties reflecting the seriousness of the allegations established against them.
In addition to the dismissals and demotions, the commission also considered other disciplinary cases involving police personnel as part of its oversight responsibilities.
The development reinforces the PSC’s position that officers found guilty of professional misconduct must face appropriate consequences, regardless of their ranks.
The commission is responsible for overseeing appointments, promotions, discipline and other personnel matters within the Nigeria Police Force, in line with its constitutional mandate.
The latest sanctions come amid growing calls for improved policing standards, greater accountability and stronger public confidence in law enforcement institutions.
