The Oyo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has formally unveiled its candidates for the 2027 general elections, with Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli emerging as the party’s governorship candidate.
The candidates were presented at the APC state secretariat in Oke-Ado, Ibadan, where party leaders, stakeholders and supporters gathered for the ceremony.
Alli, who currently represents Oyo South Senatorial District in the Senate, expressed appreciation to the party leadership and members for giving him the opportunity to represent the APC in the governorship election.
He appealed to other aspirants who contested the governorship ticket to work with him, describing them as important stakeholders in the party’s efforts to win the 2027 election.
The senator stressed the need for unity within the APC and warned that internal disagreements could weaken the party’s chances at the polls.
Alli also promised to run an inclusive administration if elected governor, identifying education, healthcare, agriculture and infrastructure among the sectors he intends to prioritise.
The party unveiled Adesoji Adedeji as Alli’s running mate.
For the Senate, the APC presented Yunus Abiodun Akintunde for Oyo Central, Hannah Olawumi Ogunsean for Oyo North and Aderemi Abasi Oseni for Oyo South.
The party also unveiled its 14 candidates for the House of Representatives and 32 candidates for the Oyo State House of Assembly.
The Oyo APC Chairman, Adeyemo Alake, called on party leaders and members to close ranks and work together towards victory in the 2027 elections.
He said the candidates presented at the event had been affirmed as the party’s flag bearers for the respective positions.
The development marks another step in the APC’s preparations for the 2027 elections as the party seeks to strengthen its structure and challenge for political control in Oyo State.
