A Nigerian businessman has died after undergoing several procedures aimed at enlarging his penis at a clinic, according to a statement from the facility.
The clinic disclosed that the patient had previously received four injections before returning for another procedure. The fifth treatment reportedly involved the injection of about 40cc of a substance into the genital area.
The facility said complications developed following the procedure, eventually leading to the man’s death.
The incident has raised concerns over the potential dangers associated with unregulated or medically inappropriate cosmetic procedures and the need for people to seek treatment only from qualified medical professionals.
Medical experts generally warn that procedures involving injections into sensitive parts of the body can carry serious health risks, particularly when the substance used, dosage or method is not medically appropriate.
The circumstances surrounding the businessman’s death are expected to be examined further as concerns grow over the safety and regulation of procedures offered by clinics and practitioners.
