Veteran Nollywood actor Yemi Solade has recounted an incident from his early years when he was paid to pretend to have a physical disability as part of a staged healing miracle in a church.
Solade made the revelation during an interview with Feel Right News TV published on Tuesday, September 8, 2026.
The actor explained that the incident occurred before he gained recognition in Nollywood, when he was still a student and had yet to establish himself professionally in the entertainment industry.
According to Solade, he was approached by people who wanted him to act as though he had a physical disability during a church service where a purported miracle healing was expected to take place.
He agreed to participate and was paid for his role.
Reflecting on the experience, Solade said he used the money he received to buy drinks at the time. He also noted that he was still a student and had not yet become a well-known actor.
The veteran actor confirmed that the people involved in the incident are still alive but declined to identify them.
Solade said he preferred not to mention their names, despite remembering the incident and the circumstances surrounding the staged miracle.
His account has drawn attention to the lengths to which some individuals may go to create the appearance of miraculous events, particularly when religious gatherings are involved.
The actor’s revelation also provides a glimpse into an unusual experience from his life before his rise to prominence in the Nigerian film industry.
