Women from Umu Ekumaenyi in Ezza land, Ebonyi State, have pledged support for the Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate, Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii, ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
The women made their position known during a meeting with the PDP Woman Leader in Ebonyi State, Chinyere Nwele, who urged them to mobilise support for Odii ahead of the February 6, 2027 election.
Nwele used the meeting to criticise the administration of Governor Francis Nwifuru, alleging that residents, particularly women and other vulnerable groups, had experienced hardship, neglect and unfulfilled promises.
She also alleged that the state government had not done enough in areas including human capital development, education, infrastructure and healthcare despite receiving substantial monthly allocations. These claims were made by the PDP woman leader and were not independently established in the report.
According to Nwele, an administration led by Odii would prioritise road construction, healthcare, rehabilitation of infrastructure, human capital development and agricultural empowerment.
She also said the PDP candidate would create a more favourable environment for businesses while promoting innovation and economic opportunities across the state.
The PDP leader urged the women to remain committed to the party’s campaign and participate actively in the political process leading to the 2027 election.
The meeting ended with the women expressing their readiness, according to the organisers, to mobilise support for Odii and the PDP ahead of the governorship poll.
