Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has praised President Bola Tinubu’s economic reforms, saying they have increased the resources available to state governments and created more room for development.

Mohammed made the remarks on Monday when he received the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Taiwo Oyedele, and the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Professor Ali Pate, who paid him a courtesy visit in Bauchi.

The governor said state governments were benefiting from the Federal Government’s economic policies, particularly through increased financial resources that could be channelled into infrastructure and improved public services.

He said governors should not criticise the Federal Government simply for the sake of opposition, adding that they should acknowledge policies that produce positive results for the states.

Mohammed specifically praised Tinubu’s reforms in the area of finance, saying states were now receiving more resources.

The Bauchi governor also commended the President for interventions in the security sector, particularly the establishment of two military battalions in Alkaleri and Tafawa Balewa.

According to him, the security measures have contributed to restoring peace in affected communities and enabled some displaced residents to return home.

Mohammed said the improved financial position of states, alongside stronger security measures, could help subnational governments provide better infrastructure and services for their people.

His comments come as the debate continues over the impact of Tinubu’s economic reforms, with government officials and supporters highlighting increased revenues to states, while critics continue to raise concerns about the cost of living and the effect of the reforms on ordinary Nigerians.
