OPay has received two major industry recognitions at the 2026 BusinessDay Banks and Other Financial Institutions (BAFI) Awards, strengthening its profile in Nigeria’s digital banking and financial technology sector.
The fintech company was named Digital Bank of the Year and Financial Inclusion Leader of the Year at the 14th edition of the awards, held on 9 October 2026 at the Civic Centre in Victoria Island, Lagos.
The awards recognise OPay’s role in expanding access to digital financial services and providing technology-driven solutions for customers across Nigeria.
The recognition comes as digital banking platforms continue to play a growing role in everyday financial transactions, allowing users to transfer money, make payments and access financial services without relying solely on traditional bank branches.
The 2026 BAFI Awards featured 67 award categories covering different segments of Nigeria’s financial services industry, including commercial banking, digital payments, insurance, pensions, investment management and capital markets.
Other institutions recognised at the event included Zenith Bank, which won Bank of the Year and Technology Bank of the Year, while Moniepoint received awards for its contributions to microfinance banking and SME financing.
The recognition of digital finance companies reflects the increasing importance of technology, accessibility and innovation in shaping the future of financial services in Nigeria.
