A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State, Kayode Ojo, has described the death of former Afenifere leader, Pa Reuben Fasoranti, as a monumental loss to Nigeria and the Yoruba nation.
Ojo said the late elder statesman, who died at the age of 100, represented a generation of leaders whose lives were defined by integrity, selflessness and an unwavering commitment to justice and democratic governance.
He described Fasoranti as a respected voice in Nigeria’s democratic journey and a custodian of the progressive ideals championed by the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo.
According to Ojo, Fasoranti’s contributions to education, public service and political leadership demonstrated his dedication to the welfare of ordinary Nigerians.
He also recalled the deceased’s service as an educationist, his tenure as Commissioner for Finance in the old Ondo State and his leadership of Afenifere, particularly during the struggle for the restoration of democracy and the June 12 mandate.
Ojo noted that Fasoranti served as a bridge between Nigeria’s First Republic and the Fourth Republic, adding that his wisdom, moral authority and fatherly counsel would be greatly missed at a critical period in the country’s development.
The APC chieftain extended his condolences to the Fasoranti family, the people of Ondo State, members of Afenifere, the Yoruba nation and President Bola Tinubu.
He prayed for the peaceful repose of the late elder statesman’s soul and for God to grant his family and other mourners the strength to bear the loss.
Fasoranti’s death has continued to attract tributes from political leaders and groups, with many remembering him for his commitment to democracy, good governance, justice and the advancement of the Yoruba people.
