The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) has received multiple awards and nominations from media organisations and industry stakeholders in recognition of its efforts to protect consumers and promote fair competition in Nigeria.
The recognitions came from NaijaTimes, Daily Independent Newspaper, the Aisha Ibrahim Babangida Foundation and BrandXchange, according to an announcement made on Thursday, October 22, 2026.
NaijaTimes presented the commission with the Institutional Integrity and Public Service Award during a ceremony at the FCCPC’s corporate headquarters in Asokoro, Abuja.
Presenting the award, the publisher and editor-in-chief of NaijaTimes, Ehi Braimah, said the honour acknowledged the commission’s contributions to consumer welfare, competitive markets and responsible business practices.
Receiving the award, FCCPC Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Tunji Bello, said the recognition would encourage the agency to strengthen its work and remain focused on ensuring fairness in the marketplace.
He stressed that the commission’s priority was to make a meaningful difference in consumers’ lives while promoting an environment where businesses could compete fairly and customers were treated justly.
The commission was also nominated for the Regulator of the Year 2026 award by Daily Independent Newspaper, which recognised its efforts in carrying out its regulatory responsibilities.
Similarly, the Women Enterprise Alliance, operating under the Aisha Ibrahim Babangida Foundation, shortlisted the FCCPC for its Regulatory Body of the Year award.
BrandXchange also named the commission Citizen-centric MDA of the Year (Federal) 2026, citing its service delivery, achievements and commitment to excellence.
The recognitions come as the FCCPC continues its work enforcing consumer protection and competition laws, investigating complaints and addressing business practices that may harm consumers.
The commission has maintained that the awards would serve as motivation to intensify efforts to protect Nigerians from unfair commercial practices and strengthen public confidence in the marketplace.
