Nollywood actress Kudirat Ogunro has weighed in on the ongoing disagreement surrounding the burial arrangements of late gospel singer Olayemi Bolaji, popularly known as Toluwanisings, describing the practice of burying people in residential homes as inadvisable.

The actress expressed her views amid a reported disagreement between the deceased singer’s widow and his family over where he should be laid to rest.

While Toluwanisings’ father reportedly prefers that his son be buried in the house he built or taken to his hometown in Osun State to be buried beside his late mother, his widow is said to favour a conventional cemetery or church-owned burial ground.

The widow reportedly expressed discomfort with the idea of continuing to live in a house where her husband would be buried.

Reacting to the controversy in a post on her Instagram page, Ogunro argued that home burials could create difficulties for surviving family members, particularly if they decide to sell the property in the future.

According to the actress, potential buyers might be reluctant to purchase a house containing a grave, while others might consider exhuming the remains after acquiring the property.

She maintained that families should consider the long-term implications of their burial decisions rather than create complications for future generations.

Ogunro wrote, “I said it last month, and I’ll say it again: burying people at home isn’t a good idea. What if the children grow up and decide to sell the house? Who wants to buy a house with a burial ground?

“Yes, people may buy such properties and exhume the remains, but why create that problem in the first place? Personally, I don’t think it’s advisable. Just my opinion, though!”

Toluwanisings died on October 14, 2026, after reportedly slumping at his apartment in Ibadan, Oyo State, less than 24 hours after ministering at a worship concert.

His death has generated widespread reactions, with the disagreement over his burial arrangements adding another layer of controversy to the circumstances surrounding his passing.

Members of his paternal family have also reportedly called for a postponement of the burial pending an investigation into his death.

As discussions continue, the dispute has sparked broader conversations about burial traditions, family decisions, the wishes of surviving spouses and the practical implications of burying loved ones on private residential properties.
