Hakeem Baba-Ahmed has warned President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) against underestimating the political awareness of voters in Northern Nigeria ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Baba-Ahmed argued that voters in the region are politically conscious and cannot easily be influenced by financial inducements or handouts from the ruling government.

He stressed that electoral decisions in the North should not be taken for granted, noting that voters have their own expectations and considerations when deciding which candidates to support.

His remarks come as political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 elections, with parties and political leaders positioning themselves to attract support across the country’s different regions.

The former presidential adviser’s comments also highlight the growing debate over the influence of financial inducements, governance records and political mobilisation in determining electoral outcomes.

As the election approaches, the warning serves as a reminder to political parties that winning voters’ support requires more than campaign promises or financial incentives.

The APC and other political parties are expected to face increasing scrutiny over their records, policies and engagement with Nigerians as preparations for the next general election gather momentum.
