The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) has challenged President Bola Tinubu to clarify the purpose of his planned foreign trip, urging him to remain in Nigeria and address the economic hardship confronting citizens.

The party, through its National Publicity Secretary, Abubakar Yusuf, questioned the President’s announced lesser Hajj pilgrimage, arguing that the trip should not distract from the challenges facing Nigerians.

Yusuf said the President should prioritize addressing the difficulties experienced by ordinary citizens rather than leaving the country while many continue to struggle with rising living costs.

“Lesser Hajj involves prayer and supplications, but not an opportunity to do the unusual or as a cover to do other things,” he said.

The APM spokesman further argued that the government should focus on resolving the economic difficulties confronting Nigerians, which he attributed to the policies of the Tinubu administration.

Invoking the popular expression “Andrew, check out”, Yusuf urged Tinubu not to leave the country at a time when citizens expect greater attention to pressing national issues.

He also turned the criticism towards the 2027 presidential election, questioning the President’s electoral prospects and claiming that Tinubu could struggle to secure at least 25 per cent of the votes in 12 selected states.

The party’s comments come amid intensifying political exchanges ahead of the 2027 general elections, as opposition groups continue to challenge the Federal Government over economic management, public welfare and governance.

The allegations and electoral claims made by the APM represent the party’s political position and have not been independently established as predictions of the election outcome.
