An Osun State-born philanthropist, Dr Ibrahim Adekunle Luqman, has pledged to sponsor the education of the children of late gospel singer Olayemi Bayonle Bolaji, popularly known as Toluwanisings, from their current educational levels through university.
Luqman also promised to provide new accommodation for the singer’s father, Muniru Adekunle Olayemi, following a condolence visit to the bereaved family in Ikirun, Osun State.
The intervention comes amid the family’s grief over the singer’s death on October 14, 2026, and growing concerns about the welfare of his widow, Akanbi Elizabeth, and their children.
Videos from the visit showed the philanthropist and his delegation meeting with the singer’s father, offering support to the family during the difficult period.
Scholarship to Secure Children’s Future
The education sponsorship is expected to ease the financial burden on the late singer’s family and help secure the children’s future.
Luqman’s pledge covers the children’s education from their current levels through university, providing a potential source of long-term support as they grow up without their father.
The planned accommodation for the singer’s father is another part of the intervention, although further details about the housing arrangement were not disclosed.
Burial Disagreement Overshadows Family’s Grief
The philanthropic gesture comes as disagreements over Toluwanisings’ burial arrangements continue to attract public attention.
The singer’s father has reportedly expressed a preference for having his son buried either at the family residence in Ibadan or in Ikirun, Osun State, where the singer’s late mother was buried.
His widow has reportedly favoured a cemetery or church burial ground, creating a disagreement that has complicated plans for the burial.
The singer’s paternal uncle, Lawal Ademola, has also appealed to government officials, community leaders and security agencies to investigate the circumstances surrounding his death.
Toluwanisings reportedly slumped at his residence in Ibadan before his death. Calls for an investigation have since emerged amid public discussions surrounding the incident.
Support for the Bereaved Family
Following the singer’s death, a support initiative titled A Call for Love & Support was launched to assist his widow and children as they navigate life without their husband and father.
Luqman’s intervention adds to efforts to provide assistance to the family during a period marked by grief, uncertainty and disagreements over burial arrangements.
The philanthropist’s pledge has also generated discussions online, with social media users expressing different views about the assistance and the ongoing family dispute.
As the family continues to mourn, attention remains on the fulfilment of the promised educational sponsorship and accommodation, alongside efforts to resolve the disagreements surrounding the singer’s burial.
