The Ogun State chapter of Ohanaeze Ndigbo has declared its support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid and the governorship ambition of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The group announced its position during a meeting in Ogun State, where its leadership said the endorsement reflected its assessment of the candidates and their political prospects.
According to the organisation, Tinubu’s policies and leadership direction informed its decision to support his bid for a second term, while Adeola was described as a preferred candidate for the state’s governorship contest.
The endorsement adds to the growing political activity ahead of the 2027 elections, as political parties, interest groups and community organisations begin declaring their preferences for key contests.
Ohanaeze Ndigbo is a socio-cultural organisation representing the interests of the Igbo people. Its Ogun State chapter’s position highlights the role of community associations in political mobilisation beyond their states of origin.
However, the endorsement represents the position of the group’s Ogun chapter and should not automatically be interpreted as the decision of every Igbo person living in the state or the wider Ohanaeze organisation nationwide.
With the next general election approaching, political actors are expected to intensify consultations and campaign activities as candidates seek to build broader support across different communities.
