The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has rescheduled the inauguration of its National Campaign Council ahead of the 2027 general elections, moving the event from Tuesday, 20 October, to Monday, 26 October 2026.

The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director, announced the change in a statement on Monday, explaining that the adjustment was necessitated by the tight schedule of its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, who has an important engagement overseas.

The party apologised for any inconvenience caused by the postponement and urged its members and supporters to remain focused on its electoral objectives.

The inauguration is expected to mark a significant step in the NDC’s preparations for the 2027 elections, with the council responsible for coordinating campaign activities in support of Obi and other party candidates.

The event had initially been scheduled to coincide with a meeting of the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC), where key decisions concerning its electoral preparations were expected to be ratified.

The party had also planned to present Certificates of Return to its candidates and hold a dinner aimed at strengthening cooperation among those contesting elective positions.

The postponement comes as political parties intensify preparations for the 2027 polls, with the NDC seeking to consolidate its campaign structure and build support for the Obi-led ticket.
