The Jigawa State Police Command has arrested six suspected members of an armed robbery gang accused of attacking two homes in Jahun Local Government Area and stealing cash, mobile phones and other valuables worth millions of naira.
The arrests followed investigations into two separate robbery incidents reported on September 24, 2026, according to the police.
The gang allegedly invaded the residence of a 35-year-old man in Kofar Daru Quarters, Jahun, at about 2:00 a.m., carting away ₦20.18 million in cash, iTel mobile phones valued at ₦13.13 million, recharge cards worth ₦1 million, Android phones and other valuables.
In a separate attack on the residence of a 37-year-old man in Shagari Quarters, the suspects allegedly stole ₦45,000, two blankets, rice and a woman’s wrapper.
Police detectives attached to the Jahun Division launched an investigation into the incidents, which led to the arrest of five suspects. They were identified as Sale Ibrahim, 25; Abubakar Abdullahi, 28; Babangida Ya’u, 35; Babannan Hassan, 27; and Isah Isibu, 35.
A further breakthrough was recorded on October 15, when operatives of the Maigatari Police Division, working with the Border Patrol Team, arrested a sixth suspect during a routine patrol at Maigatari Market.
The suspect, identified as 35-year-old Isa Yusuf from Hantsu village in Miga Local Government Area, was reportedly found with 13 new iTel mobile phones, 13 chargers, 13 batteries and ₦102,500 in cash.
He was subsequently transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Dutse for further investigation.
The police said the suspect allegedly admitted during interrogation to being a member of the gang involved in the Jahun robbery incidents. Investigators also linked the recovered phones and other items to property reportedly stolen during the attacks.
The police command disclosed that all six suspects had been charged to court, while efforts were continuing to apprehend other members of the gang who remain at large and recover the outstanding stolen property.
The arrests form part of the command’s efforts to tackle armed robbery and improve security across the state.
