Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has forwarded the names of three commissioner nominees and 10 special adviser nominees to the Ekiti State House of Assembly for screening and approval.
The request forms part of efforts to strengthen the state government’s administrative structure and facilitate the implementation of its policies and development programmes.
The Speaker of the House of Assembly, Adeoye Aribasoye, disclosed the development during plenary, where the governor’s request was presented to lawmakers for consideration.
According to the report, the nominees will undergo the necessary legislative screening before the Assembly decides whether to approve their appointments.
The process is part of the constitutional procedure through which state governors seek legislative confirmation for appointments requiring the approval of the House of Assembly.
Strengthening Government Administration
The proposed appointments are expected to support the administration’s operations across relevant government departments and advisory functions, subject to the completion of the screening process.
Commissioners oversee ministries and help implement government policies, while special advisers provide the governor with expert guidance on specific areas of governance.
The appointments could therefore help strengthen policy coordination and administrative responsibilities across the state government.
However, the nominees must first receive the required legislative approval before their appointments can be finalised.
The development comes as the Oyebanji administration continues its governance activities in Ekiti State, with the Assembly expected to consider the governor’s request in line with its legislative responsibilities.
