The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, has appealed to voters in Ekiti State to support President Bola Tinubu and other party candidates in the 2027 general elections, citing economic reforms and infrastructure projects as reasons to back the ruling party.
Yilwatda made the appeal on Thursday during an APC presidential campaign rally in Ado-Ekiti, where he joined Vice-President Kashim Shettima, members of the party’s National Working Committee, governors and other political stakeholders to present the party’s candidates to the electorate.
The APC chairman expressed satisfaction with the turnout at the rally, describing it as a sign of support for the party and its Renewed Hope Agenda.
Yilwatda Defends Tinubu’s Economic Policies
Yilwatda described Tinubu as a leader committed to reforming the economy, strengthening public institutions and creating opportunities for Nigerians.
He particularly highlighted the administration’s tax reforms, arguing that the new framework was designed to shield low-income earners and small businesses from excessive tax burdens.
He also pointed to the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) as an initiative intended to improve access to higher education. According to him, eligible beneficiaries receive a monthly upkeep allowance of ₦20,000.
APC Chairman Highlights Road Projects in Ekiti
On infrastructure, Yilwatda referenced federal road projects in Ekiti State, including major connections between Ado-Ekiti and Akure, as evidence of the administration’s commitment to improving transportation and economic activity.
He urged residents to support APC candidates contesting elections at every level, particularly those seeking seats in the National Assembly and the Ekiti State House of Assembly.
According to him, electing more APC representatives would help facilitate the implementation of Tinubu’s development agenda.
Party Members Urged to Close Ranks
The APC national chairman also called on party members and stakeholders in Ekiti to maintain unity and intensify mobilisation ahead of the elections.
He expressed confidence that the party would strengthen its political position in 2027, urging voters to renew their support for Tinubu and the APC.
The appeal comes as political parties intensify preparations and grassroots mobilisation ahead of the next general elections.
