The All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced the reopening of its electronic membership registration exercise nationwide as the party begins preparations for the 2027 general elections.

The exercise is scheduled to commence on Monday, August 31, 2026, according to APC National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka.

Existing and new members to participate

Morka urged APC members, supporters and stakeholders across the country to participate in the exercise, which will be conducted across wards nationwide.

Existing members are expected to validate their membership records, while new and intending members can use the exercise to formally register with the party.

The party said the initiative is part of efforts to create a more accurate and digitally managed membership database ahead of the 2027 elections.

NIN required for registration

According to the APC, anyone seeking to register must meet two basic requirements:

  • Be 18 years or older
  • Possess a valid National Identification Number (NIN)

The party said the electronic registration system is intended to digitise its membership register and improve the accuracy and integrity of membership records.

APC says exercise will strengthen internal democracy

Morka said the digital membership system would provide the party with more efficient access to membership information for planning and administrative decision-making.

He added that the initiative would also support internal democracy and democratic innovation within the APC.

The reopening comes as Nigerian political parties intensify grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.

What APC members should know

For existing APC members, the exercise provides an opportunity to confirm that their details remain correctly captured in the party’s database.

For prospective members, it offers a pathway to formally join the party ahead of the next election cycle.

With the 2027 elections approaching, accurate membership records are expected to become increasingly important for party organisation, grassroots mobilisation and internal processes.

OnPointGist will continue to monitor developments as political parties across Nigeria prepare for the 2027 elections.
