Controversial Nigerian cleric Prophet Chukwuemeka Ohanaemere, popularly known as Odumeje, has opened up about his past, revealing that people used to pay him to fight on their behalf before he became a preacher.
The founder of the Mountain of Holy Ghost Intervention and Deliverance Ministry, based in Onitsha, Anambra State, reportedly made the revelation while speaking about his life before embracing street evangelism.
Odumeje described himself as a dangerous person and insisted that he was not a comedian, despite the entertainment value many people associate with his dramatic public appearances.
According to reports, the cleric said he was involved in fights while growing up and that people would hire him to confront others for them.
He also recounted how his decision to begin preaching the gospel on the streets of Onitsha was met with resistance from some of his former friends.
Odumeje reportedly said some of them were uncomfortable with his new lifestyle and attempted to discourage him from preaching. He recalled an incident in which they allegedly seized his Bible and megaphone before beating him.
Despite the hostility, he continued preaching and maintained his commitment to his Christian faith.
The latest revelation has drawn attention to the cleric’s account of his transformation from a young man known for fighting to a prominent religious figure.
Odumeje is widely recognised for his energetic preaching style, dramatic expressions and unconventional approach to ministry, which have made him a frequent subject of public discussion.
