Controversial Nigerian cleric Chukwuemeka Ohanaemere, popularly known as Prophet Odumeje, has opened up about his past, revealing that people once paid him to fight on their behalf before he became a preacher.
The Onitsha-based pastor shared the revelation while recounting his experiences growing up, describing himself as someone who was known for his toughness and involvement in fights.
According to Odumeje, people would approach him and pay him to fight others for them, with arrangements made for the confrontations.
“I don’t do comedy, I’m a very dangerous man. While growing up, people used to pay me to fight for them,” he said.
The cleric’s comments have attracted attention online, with many social media users reacting to his description of his life before becoming a religious leader.
Odumeje, who is known for his dramatic preaching style and bold public statements, has frequently drawn attention for his unconventional expressions and self-proclaimed nicknames, including “Indaboski” and “Liquid Metal”.
He also recalled how his decision to begin preaching the gospel on the streets of Onitsha did not sit well with some of his former friends.
According to accounts of his testimony, some of those who knew him from his earlier days mocked his transformation and allegedly tried to stop him from preaching. He said they once took his megaphone and Bible and beat him.
Despite the opposition, Odumeje maintained that he continued preaching, crediting his faith with helping him remain committed to his new path.
His latest account has renewed discussions about his journey from street life to religious leadership, with reactions ranging from amusement to admiration for the change he says he experienced.
