Nigerian comedian and actor Samuel Perry, popularly known as Broda Shaggi, has opened up about the frightening experience of being hit by a stray bullet, revealing how the incident left him fearing for his life and uncertain about his future in entertainment.
The skit maker shared his experience in a video posted on his YouTube channel, explaining that the incident occurred on 9 March 2026, shortly after he and his team completed a brand activation assignment in the Sango-Ota area of Ogun State.
According to him, they were leaving the location when he suddenly heard a loud bang. He later discovered that he had been struck by a bullet around his hip.
Shaggi said he lost consciousness before arriving at the hospital and could only remember praying for survival as those around him rushed to get him medical attention.
He recalled being overwhelmed by fear as he saw blood and struggled to understand what was happening, adding that all he wanted was reassurance from medical personnel that he would survive.
The comedian said the injury became even more frightening when he realised he could no longer move his leg normally. As a performer whose comedy often involves dancing and physical movements, he began worrying about whether he would ever return to doing what he loved.
Shaggi also revealed that his prolonged absence from work affected him emotionally. Having maintained a demanding schedule of writing, shooting skits, making music and travelling since 2018, he struggled to adjust to spending months away from his usual activities.
He said watching fellow entertainers continue creating content sometimes brought him to tears because he was unsure whether he would regain the ability to perform at the same level.
Despite the challenges, Shaggi tried to remain productive during his recovery by writing and developing a YouTube series while receiving treatment.
He disclosed that he underwent surgery in Nigeria before travelling to Dubai for further treatment. According to him, his condition improved significantly after the operation abroad, allowing him to stand with support and later walk with crutches.
Although he can now stand without assistance, the comedian said he still uses crutches for support as he continues his recovery.
Reflecting on the incident, Shaggi expressed gratitude that the bullet did not strike a more vital part of his body, acknowledging that the outcome could have been far worse.
Describing his survival as a second chance at life, he assured fans that he was preparing to return to their screens with exciting projects after months away from the spotlight.
His account has offered fans a glimpse into the physical and emotional struggles he endured during his recovery, as well as the uncertainty he faced over whether he would continue his entertainment career.
