Nigerian troops have rescued four kidnapped victims during separate security operations in Zamfara and Kebbi states as the military intensifies efforts to tackle kidnapping and terrorism across the North-West.

The victims were rescued on Wednesday, 21 October, during operations conducted by troops of Operation Fansan Yamma, according to military authorities.

In Zamfara State, soldiers rescued Mansur Shehu, 25, and Kadijat Haruna, 49, from a farmland in Binoni Marafa, Maru Local Government Area.

The rescue followed reports of terrorist activity in the area, prompting troops to intervene and recover the two victims.

In a separate operation in Kebbi State, troops rescued Jimoh Su-Arege, 35, and Kalahe Danjuma, 41, after receiving intelligence that suspected terrorists were transporting abducted persons from Dipindu village in Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area.

The soldiers moved to the area following the report and successfully freed the two victims, who were subsequently handed over to the Seriki of Dipindu.

The military said it had sustained patrols and surveillance across its areas of responsibility to restrict the movement of criminal groups and prevent further attacks.

The latest operations form part of ongoing efforts to rescue abducted civilians, disrupt criminal networks and improve security in vulnerable communities across the North-West.

Military authorities have also urged residents to continue providing credible information that could assist security agencies in their operations.
