Troops of the Nigerian Army have rescued two kidnapped victims during a search-and-rescue operation around Bagega in Zamfara State, as security forces intensify efforts to curb terrorist activities in the North-West.
The operation was carried out on Monday, October 26, by troops of Sector 2 under Operation FANSAN YAMMA following reports of suspicious movements by suspected terrorists in the area.
The rescued victims were identified as Shehu Chete, 40, and Bugu Bedi, 25, both from Zuru Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
According to military sources, the troops swiftly mobilised after receiving the information and launched a search operation that led to the safe recovery of the two individuals.
Following their rescue, the victims were evacuated for medical attention and are receiving the necessary care.
The Army said its personnel remained deployed across the area to protect residents, maintain public safety and prevent further criminal activities.
The latest operation forms part of ongoing military efforts under Operation FANSAN YAMMA to track suspected terrorists, rescue abducted civilians and restore security to communities affected by kidnapping and other violent crimes.
Residents have continued to face security challenges across parts of the North-West, prompting sustained military operations aimed at restricting the movement of armed groups.
