American rapper Nicki Minaj has praised United States President Donald Trump, claiming his leadership has changed the country’s atmosphere and given Americans renewed hope for the future.

Minaj made the remarks on Sunday while appearing alongside Trump at a campaign rally in Port Huron, Michigan, where she urged voters to support Republican candidates ahead of the November midterm elections.

According to reports, the rapper said Trump had given Americans “a future to look forward to”, describing the election as a major turning point for the country.

Minaj Urges Americans to Support Republicans

During the rally, Minaj encouraged supporters to vote for Republican candidates, arguing that their election was important to the country’s future.

She also led the crowd in chants celebrating Trump and Republican candidates contesting elections in Michigan.

Trump, in turn, praised the rapper after her appearance, describing her as smart and complimenting her appearance. Minaj had travelled to Michigan aboard Air Force One with the president and was seen joking with a presidential aide during the flight.

From Criticism to Public Support

Minaj has previously described herself as Trump’s “number one fan”, although her relationship with his politics has not always been without criticism.

The rapper has publicly supported some of his positions, including his claims concerning the persecution of Christians in Nigeria and his proposed Gold Card immigration programme for wealthy applicants seeking US residency and a pathway to citizenship.

Her latest appearance at the Michigan rally further highlights her growing public involvement in American political debates.

Trump Campaigns as Midterm Election Battle Intensifies

The rally comes as Republicans and Democrats step up their campaigns ahead of the November midterm elections, which will determine the balance of power in the US Congress.

Trump used the event to criticise Democratic Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed, making remarks about his Muslim faith and background. El-Sayed has described similar comments as Islamophobic and argued that they distract from concerns about the cost of living and the administration’s policies.

Former US President Barack Obama also campaigned with El-Sayed on Saturday, reflecting the growing political contest between the two parties in Michigan.

Minaj’s appearance adds celebrity visibility to the Republican campaign, as both parties seek to mobilise supporters ahead of the crucial November vote.
