Spanish football club UD Almería has announced that it will donate all ticket revenue from its upcoming home match against CD Tenerife to the family of late striker Jesús de Miguel, in a gesture of solidarity following his tragic death.
The decision, announced on Wednesday, November 4, was initiated by Almería president Mohammed Al Khereiji as the football community continues to mourn the 30-year-old player’s passing.
De Miguel, who played for Tenerife, died on Tuesday after suffering a cardiac arrest following a collision during his side’s Spanish second-division match against Andorra on Monday. The match was abandoned late in the game after the incident.
In a statement, Almería said the initiative reflected the club’s commitment to humanitarian responsibility and its determination to support members of the football community during difficult times.
The club acknowledged that financial assistance could not erase the pain of losing a loved one but expressed hope that the donation would provide meaningful support to the bereaved family.
Almería also extended an invitation to De Miguel’s relatives to attend the fixture against Tenerife, should their circumstances permit, as a further expression of sympathy and solidarity.
The match is scheduled for the 34th round of the league season, with all proceeds from ticket sales earmarked for the player’s family.
The announcement has drawn attention to the solidarity that can emerge across football, even between clubs competing against one another, during moments of profound tragedy.
