The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has unveiled its 2027 presidential campaign council, naming its National Leader, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, as chairman, while presidential candidate Peter Obi will serve as co-chairman.
The 118-member council is expected to coordinate the party’s nationwide campaign, strengthen mobilization and drive its preparations for the 2027 general elections.
Under the new arrangement, NDC National Chairman Senator Cleopas Moses Zuwoghe will serve as vice-chairman, while the party’s vice-presidential candidate, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has been appointed co-vice-chairman.
The party’s National Secretary, Barrister Ikenna Morgan Enekweizu, will serve as council secretary, while Mallam Ibrahim Hussain Abdulkarim has been appointed Director-General of the presidential campaign.
Other prominent members include former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal; former Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege; Senator Victor Umeh; former Kano State governor’s ally Buba Galadima; and former Anambra State governorship candidate Oseloka Obaze.
The party also appointed Osa Director, its National Publicity Secretary, as Director of Communication and Media, while retired Major General John Enenche will oversee Security and Intelligence.
The campaign structure includes directorates covering finance, logistics, media, legal affairs, election monitoring, youth mobilization, women mobilization, diaspora engagement and other operational areas.
The party has also named campaign coordinators for the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory as part of its plan to organise activities across the country.
According to the NDC, the council will provide strategic leadership, coordinate campaign activities and mobilize Nigerians behind its vision of a “new, just, and prosperous Nigeria”.
The announcement signals the party’s preparations for the 2027 elections, with its campaign leadership expected to focus on nationwide organization and presenting its political agenda to voters.
