Access Bank Zambia is seeking to expand its relationship with the Zambia Air Force (ZAF), exploring opportunities beyond its existing sponsorship of the military institution’s Red Arrows Rugby Club.
The bank’s Managing Director, Dr Iheanyi Nwogu, said the partnership could be extended to initiatives that promote institutional development, support military personnel and deliver wider benefits to communities.
He made the remarks during the presentation of new playing kits to Red Arrows Rugby Club at Zambia Air Force Headquarters.
Bank eyes wider financial collaboration
Nwogu explained that Access Bank’s relationship with the Zambia Air Force already extends beyond sports sponsorship, as the bank provides financial services to the institution, including the management of salary and operational accounts.
He reaffirmed the bank’s commitment to providing dependable financial services while exploring additional areas of cooperation.
According to him, the institution is interested in partnerships that generate lasting value and support the broader development objectives of Zambia.
The bank also expressed its readiness to leverage its financial expertise and regional network to support initiatives that could benefit the air force and the wider community.
Zambia Air Force welcomes continued support
Zambia Air Force Commander, Lieutenant General Oscar Msitu Nyoni, commended Access Bank for its continued support of Red Arrows Rugby Club.
He described sports sponsorship as an important contribution to developing talent and promoting discipline, teamwork, leadership and physical fitness among young people.
Nyoni noted that Red Arrows had established itself as one of Zambia’s leading rugby clubs, having won 14 league titles.
He urged the club to maintain its standards while investing in player development, strengthening women’s rugby and identifying emerging talent.
The commander also encouraged players to wear their new kits with pride and ensure that their conduct on and off the field reflected the values of the Zambia Air Force.
Partnership extends beyond the rugby pitch
The latest development highlights Access Bank Zambia’s continued involvement in sports and institutional partnerships, while opening the door to a broader relationship with the air force.
Although no specific new financial agreement was announced during the ceremony, the bank indicated its willingness to explore additional areas of collaboration.
The proposed expansion could create opportunities for further financial services and initiatives supporting the institution and its personnel.
