The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has opened its online recruitment portal for Nigerians interested in working as ad hoc staff during the 2027 general elections.
The commission plans to recruit about 1.4 million temporary election personnel who will be deployed across more than 176,000 polling units nationwide. The workers will support the conduct of the presidential, National Assembly, governorship and State Houses of Assembly elections.
According to INEC, the INEC Personnel Recruitment System (INECPRES) opened at 8:00 a.m. on Friday, September 18, 2026, and applications will close at midnight on Wednesday, November 18, 2026.
The available positions include Supervisory Presiding Officers (SPOs), Presiding Officers (POs), Assistant Presiding Officers (APOs), Registration Area Centre Managers (RAC Managers) and Registration Area Technical Support personnel (RATECHs).
How to Apply
Interested applicants are required to register through the official INECPRES platform. Applicants should first review the eligibility requirements for their preferred position before creating an account and completing the application.
The application process involves registering an account, providing the requested personal and professional information, uploading the required documents and submitting the completed application online.
Applicants should have the following information and documents available:
- A functional email address
- An active mobile telephone number
- A personal bank account number
- A recent passport photograph with a white background, not exceeding 5MB
- Contact details of two referees, including their telephone numbers and email addresses
- A valid Staff ID or Student ID number, where applicable
- An NYSC Call-up Number for eligible current or former corps members
- A copy of the applicant’s highest qualification in PDF format
- A valid means of identification in JPG or JPEG format.
Important Warning to Applicants
INEC has previously warned Nigerians about fraudulent websites claiming to be recruitment portals for election ad hoc staff. The commission has stressed that applicants should use only its official recruitment platforms and verify recruitment information through INEC’s official channels.
Applicants should therefore avoid unofficial links requesting personal information, passwords, one-time passwords or banking details.
The recruitment is part of INEC’s preparations for the 2027 general elections, with the commission scheduled to deploy a large temporary workforce to polling locations across the country.
Prospective applicants are advised to complete their registration before the November 18, 2026 deadline, as the portal is expected to close automatically when the application period ends.
