Residents of Nuru Suraj Estate in the Millennium City area of Kaduna State have been thrown into panic following an attack by suspected kidnappers who reportedly abducted about six people in the early hours of Tuesday.
The attackers were said to have gained access to the estate through its second gate before invading homes and carrying out the abductions.
A resident, identified as Maman Hamid, whose house is close to that of the victims, disclosed that the incident sparked fear among residents as the suspected kidnappers carried out their operation.
Following the attack, military personnel reportedly pursued the fleeing abductors in an effort to rescue the victims. Some of those abducted were said to have been rescued, although the total number of people freed and the whereabouts of those still missing had not been confirmed at the time of reporting.
The latest incident has renewed concerns over the deteriorating security situation in Millennium City, a developing residential area on the outskirts of Kaduna metropolis that has experienced repeated kidnapping incidents.
Residents have continued to express fears over attacks on homes and residential estates, calling for stronger security patrols, improved surveillance and tighter access control around vulnerable communities.
The latest attack comes amid a series of security operations in the area. Earlier in October, the Kaduna State Police Command announced the arrest of eight suspected kidnappers and four alleged informants during operations in Millennium City and neighbouring Maraban Rido.
The police also reported recovering firearms and deploying additional security resources to strengthen operations in the affected communities.
Despite these measures, the latest reported abduction has heightened calls for sustained action to protect residents and prevent further attacks.
The Kaduna State Police Command had yet to issue an official statement on the latest incident at the time of reporting.
