The Osun State Security Network Agency, popularly known as Amotekun Corps, has dismissed one of its officers, Awopeju Cornelious Sanjo, over gross misconduct in violation of public service regulations.
The dismissal was announced on Tuesday by the corps’ Public Relations Officer, CSA Yusuf Idowu Abass, following disciplinary proceedings held on Monday, October 26, 2026.
According to the statement, the allegations against Sanjo, whose service number is OSNA/2021/00018, were formally presented during the proceedings by the command’s provost, CSP Joshua Omogbehin (retd.).
The corps said the officer acknowledged the allegations during the disciplinary process, after which the command decided to terminate his appointment in accordance with the applicable regulations.
Dismissed officer directed to surrender official items
Following the decision, Sanjo was directed to return all Amotekun uniforms, equipment and other official materials in his possession as part of the disengagement process.
The command stressed that the former officer no longer has the authority or official status to act on behalf of the security outfit.
Members of the public were urged not to recognise or present him as a serving Amotekun operative.
Commander warns against indiscipline
Reacting to the development, the Corps Commander, Adekunle Isaac Omoyele, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to discipline, professionalism and accountability among its personnel.
Omoyele warned that the corps would not tolerate misconduct or behaviour capable of damaging its reputation and undermining public confidence.
He urged officers to remain vigilant, disciplined and committed to their responsibilities, stressing that personnel found guilty of misconduct would face appropriate disciplinary action.
The command reiterated its commitment to protecting lives and property across Osun State, adding that all personnel were expected to operate within the rules governing the organisation.
